Lake Bafa - Mugla

Lake Bafa - Mugla

Söke plain was the sea about 2000 years ago, there was a big gulf here. The alluviums brought by the Büyük Menderes river filled the bay and turned it into a plain. Today's Lake Bafa is in between as a piece of the sea. There are two islands on the lake. One of the twin islands is not actually a full island, it is connected to the land by a dune. Mullet, sea bass and eel are kept in Bafa Lake. If you want to visit the lake, you can take the dolmus engines. Thanks to this, you can visit the ancient city of the Islands, Heraklia. Monasteries and churches were established on the islands in the lake. One of them is "YEDİD Monastery". The area around the lake is surrounded by olive groves. For this reason, all meals made in restaurants around the lake are made with olive oil.
