     The first museum in Fethiye, which was founded on Telmessos, the westernmost city of the ancient Lycian region, and the port city of the Teke peninsula, was started to be created with the works collected from the city and its surroundings after the 1957 Earthquake, as a result of the attempts of Recep Ceylan, the district governor of the period. The museum, which first operated as the Depot Museum in two small rooms under the current city hall, has been welcoming its visitors in its present place since 1987. Most of the works exhibited in the exhibition are the works brought to our Museum by Citizens from Fethiye and its surroundings and the works brought to the museum by excavations in the area of ​​responsibility of the Museum.

     The museum consists of Archeology Section, Ethnography section and Garden display. Works in the archeology section. The Sculptures, Sculpture heads, Ceramics, Glass and metal artifacts and groups formed from coins are exhibited in groups starting from 1000 to the end of the Byzantine Period. In the Archeology Hall, there are also inscriptions that provide important information about the history of the region and the culture of the region. The most important of these inscriptions is the Tringual stele, which plays an important role in the analysis and reading of Lycian, which is the language of the people of the classical age of the region.In the ethnography hall, there are folkloric works of Teke region (Weavings, Clothing, Embroideries, Jewelry and ornaments). home appliances) are on display.
